In April 22, 2026, the China National Center for Food Safety Risk Assessment officially released a public consultation on L-ergothioneine as a new food ingredient. This marks a major milestone for L-ergothioneine — a mitochondria-targeting anti-aging ingredient widely recognized by the scientific community as a “longevity vitamin” — as it moves closer to receiving formal market approval in China.
01 Dual Domestic and Global Certifications: A Strong Passport to First-Tier Market Positioning
L-ergothioneine has attracted significant attention because it is a naturally occurring amino acid derivative capable of selectively entering cells and mitochondria, where it scavenges reactive oxygen species (ROS) and delivers powerful antioxidant and cytoprotective effects. The current public consultation covers seven manufacturing processes, among which Bloomage’s independently developed MitoEGT® L-ergothioneine is included.
