International Day of Clean Energy | Bloomage: Leading the Clean Energy Transition Through Green Practice

2026.01.26

On January 26, the world marks the third United Nations International Day of Clean Energy. Established to promote an equitable and inclusive approach to empowering communities, the day underscores the global push toward clean and reliable energy systems. As a benchmark enterprise in the bio-manufacturing sector, Bloomage is turning this global agenda into concrete, system-wide change across technology, manufacturing, and the broader industrial ecosystem.

Rather than focusing solely on single-source energy substitution, the company is pursuing a multidimensional transformation that spans green energy supply, improved production energy efficiency, and value-chain collaboration, demonstrating industry leadership through end-to-end green practices.

In terms of green energy supply, Bloomage is accelerating its energy transition and increasing the share of renewable energy in its overall energy mix. Building on its existing distributed photovoltaic systems and biogas power generation facilities, the company added new renewable energy installations in 2024, including biomass boilers, and actively introduced externally sourced renewable electricity (wind power) and biomass-based thermal energy. Notably, the Jinan Production Base has achieved 100% green electricity, setting a benchmark for clean energy adoption. This represents not only a direct response to the call for clean energy, but also a measurable milestone that underscores the company’s significant progress in building a green and low-carbon production system.

While advancing energy decarbonization, Bloomage also maintains a strong focus on continuous optimization of production processes to enhance energy efficiency. By systematically recovering industrial waste heat generated during fermentation processes and converting it into a stable heat source for facility heating, hot water supply, and the employee canteen, the company transforms “waste heat” into “usable energy” within a closed-loop system, enabling cascade utilization of energy.

At the Jinan Production Base, Bloomage implemented a compressed-air networked operation project for pharmaceutical machinery air compressors, refrigerant dryers, and instruments. By optimizing equipment operation modes, energy efficiency was improved, and energy consumption was reduced, with an estimated annual electricity savings of around 470,000 kWh and approximately RMB 370,000 in electricity costs. At the Tianjin Production Base, Bloomage upgraded sedimentation tanks to save ethanol usage while achieving estimated savings of approximately 330,000 kWh of electricity and 6,000 tons of steam annually.

Bloomage extends its clean energy philosophy throughout the supply chain, driving deep integration of green principles. The company has developed and implemented the Bloomage Supplier Code of Conduct, which requires suppliers to continuously improve their performance in environmental compliance, energy use, and emissions reduction practices. In 2024, the compliance signing rate among production material suppliers reached 100%, and ESG-focused training programs were delivered to core suppliers, fostering the effective adoption of clean energy and low-carbon manufacturing principles across the supply chain.

The transition to clean energy is not a one-off initiative, but a long-term undertaking. Bloomage has established a 2030 carbon reduction target, aiming to achieve a 50% reduction in total Group carbon emissions (Scopes 1 + Scope 2) by 2030, using 2023 as the baseline year, and to implement emissions reduction measures in a scientific and efficient manner within its operational capabilities. The company’s green practices have also received authoritative international recognition, including Leadership-level ratings for Water Security (A) and Climate Change (A) in the CDP assessment, as well as a Silver Medal awarded by EcoVadis for its sustainability performance.

The significance of International Day of Clean Energy lies not only in calling for action, but also in shaping the future. Bloomages practices demonstrate that true transformational leadership is achieved by internalizing clean energy—elevating it from an external objective to an intrinsic operational capability, a shared ecological principle for value-chain collaboration, and a long-term governance ethos embedded within the enterprise. What the company is building is not merely a factory with an optimized energy structure, but a benchmark model for green manufacturing that can serve as a reference for the industry.

Looking ahead, Bloomage is committed to acting as a determined explorer and co-creator, continuously leveraging innovation to empower green development and contributing corporate strength toward a future of harmonious coexistence between humanity and nature.
